ABOUT VENEERS

Veneers

Do you have discoloured teeth? Are you dissatisfied with their shape? Do you have too big gap between your teeth? For such problems veneers can be a solution.

Veneers are extremely thin porcelain facings that are glued to the anterior surface of the teeth to improve dental cosmetic aesthetic. They are especially used for the optical correction of the form, colour or small displacements of the tooth. For this purpose the surfaces of the teeth have to be prepared at first, which means that a 1mm thin layer is removed from the face or the cutting edges of the teeth. After a precise impression a filmy full ceramic layer is done out of a lot of layers of porcelain by hand that are glued to the teeth then. This kind of aesthetic adornment is mostly chosen in case of healthy teeth which means not filled or root-treated teeth because otherwise full ceramic crowns ought to be chosen in favour of improved stabilisation. Moreover the treating dentist has to judge the whole physiological occlusion because in case of distinct occlusal malposition, like deep bite or “natural gnashing of teeth” the durability is restricted.

How veneers are placed onto the teeth?

For this purpose the surfaces of the teeth have to be prepared at first, which means that 0,5 mm thin layer is removed from the face or the cutting edges of the teeth. After a precise impression a filmy full ceramic layer is done out of a lot of layers of porcelain by hand that are glued to the teeth then.

In what cases do we suggest veneers?

  1. If the front teeth are discoloured, became grey and whitening is not efficient  (e.g.: acquired tetracycline disease)
  2. If the shape of front teeth are not aesthetic
  3. If you have congenital enamel or dentin irregularity (enamel and dentin hypoplasia)
  4. If there is gap between your front teeth.
  5. If you are not satisfied with your smile.
  6. If a part of the front tooth has broken off and it is not suggested to restore it with filling

One may decide at previous smile-design that which teeth needs veneers. The colour and even the shape of incisors, canines and premolars may be modified with veneers.

Dental technique:

Dental technique works require approximately one week. Waiting period may be reduced to 5 days upon paying urgency charge. During previous smile-design, one may precisely decide on the shape, size and location of teeth. Veneers, as it is described in the attached brochure, are made of composite, however, normally of ceramics. (We can send you photos of desired tooth-shape and the personal meeting is possible in the laboratory).

Temporary veneers:

Temporary veneers are made of composite material and are attached to prepared tooth surface immediately after grinding. Temporary veneers are used mainly for aesthetic reasons. Chewing and biting functions are of lower intensity.
